Terms of Service

Effective: October 20, 2026

These Terms are an agreement between you and Sward LLC ("Sward," "we," "us") for the Sward app. By using Sward, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

The short version: Sward gives general lawn guidance from university sources, not professional advice, and you must always follow product labels. Subscriptions renew automatically through Apple until you cancel. If something goes wrong, our responsibility is limited, and disputes go to arbitration unless you opt out.

1. Who can use Sward

You must be at least 13 years old. Sward is available in the United States and offers guidance only for the states and regions listed in the app.

2. What Sward is

Sward gives you a lawn care plan, reminders, weather and an AI assistant (Sage), based on published guidance from universities, starting with your state's university. Where a source gives no guidance, Sward says so.

Sward is not affiliated with or endorsed by any university or university lawn program. The names of universities and their lawn programs identify where guidance comes from.

3. Guidance, not professional advice

Sward's guidance, including Sage's answers, is general information. It is not a substitute for advice from a licensed professional or a local lawn expert, like your county Extension office (run by your state university), about your specific lawn.

You are responsible for decisions about your lawn and property.

4. Your account

You sign in with Apple. Keep your Apple account secure; you're responsible for activity on your Sward account. You can delete your account in the app at any time (Settings, then Account, then Delete account).

5. Subscriptions and billing

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

7. Our content and your content

Sward's software, design, name and logo belong to Sward LLC. Guidance from universities shown in the app belongs to its publishers and is credited to them.

Your lawn log and other information you enter stay yours. You give us permission to use them only to provide Sward to you, as described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Changes to Sward and ending access

We may add, change or remove features and supported states. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms. You can stop using Sward and delete your account at any time.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

Sward is provided "as is" and "as available." To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including that Sward will be accurate, uninterrupted or error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Sward LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for damage to your lawn, plants, property or animals from following or not following guidance in the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Sward in the 12 months before the claim.

Some states don't allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you.

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina.

If you have a problem with Sward, email support@getsward.com first; most issues can be fixed that way. If we can't resolve it within 60 days, either of us may start binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Arbitration means a neutral arbitrator decides the dispute instead of a judge or jury. Either of us may still bring a claim in small claims court if it qualifies, or ask a court to stop misuse of Sward or its content.

You can opt out of arbitration by emailing support@getsward.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, saying you opt out. If you opt out, disputes go to the state or federal courts located in North Carolina.

12. Apple App Store terms

These Terms are between you and Sward LLC, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Sward or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. If Sward fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, which may refund the purchase price; Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to Sward, including product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm you're not in a country under a U.S. embargo and not on a U.S. government list of restricted parties.

13. Changes to these Terms

If we change these Terms in a material way, we'll tell you in the app or on this page before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Sward after that means you accept the changes.
